The
Difference
Between a good artist
And a great one
Is:
The novice
Will often lay down his tool
Or brush
Then pick up an invisible club
On the mind's table
And helplessly smash the easels and
Jade.
Whereas the vintage man
No longer hurts himself or anyone
And keeps on
Sculpting.
Light.

Oh to stop the self doubt, self talk and just create. This blog feels like a place to play at it.
ReplyDeleteHaha that's it, Maggie!
ReplyDeleteThe more I read of Hafiz, the more remarkable it is that a) before last year I had never heard of him and b) his words are so pertinent today and c) his way of expressing himself is so contemporary. Or rather, it SEEMS contemporary.
'The Vintage Man'....hmm that would make an EX-cellent book title.

ReplyDeleteDeb, yes Hafizs' poems do seem to be timeless. He speaks a truth that works whatever the century.
ReplyDeleteSo very true!
ReplyDeleteWonderful words. I hope you will keep on creating; don't even think of picking up the club.
ReplyDeleteHey Maggie, you've stopped again; you've also stopped visiting - which is really a very good way to get into things.
ReplyDeleteSo, where's the next post?
