This was taken @ Antelope Canyon, Page, Arizona
It is totally magical in this Canyon. The canyon composed of Navajo Sandstone was formed by erosion due to flash flooding during monsoon season.
The floor is sand and these deeply carved walls are I am guessing 30 feet high. You get to walk through this slot canyon which again I am guessing 600 feet long.
I highly recommend a trip here. You have to sign up for a tour but they are totally geared for photographers. Google it and maybe get reviews as to who to choose to take a tour with. We just signed up with one in the town of Page. You will need a tripod for sure. You will be blown away by the beauty, the energy and the majesty of the place. This picture was taken in November 2009.
Your photo certanly took me in...I thought, what am I looking at...a close up of delicate purple lettuce, draped ruffled material, a smooth chocolate creation?...Not once did I think 'canyon'...But Now I See!
ReplyDeleteWow!! What a stunning picture, Maggie! I've seen evidence of your talent with a camera before but this is astonishing, really.
ReplyDeleteHow'd you get those words on there??? Is that your handwriting? This makes me laugh, cause I think in 16 or so years I've maybe seen it once!
Anyway, I like those words a lot, especially implore.
Wanda, I know, even being there its surreal.
ReplyDeleteDeb, thankyou. The subject matter just lends itself to a great picture.
ReplyDeleteRe the words: I did a thing called 'wordle'. If you go to 'Chronicles of a Country Girl' blog-2 days ago she did one and gives you the site to go to. I just went and got it. www.wordle.net
If you put your blog address in under the #2 choice it will make a wordle of the most used words in your blog. It will make the most used words the biggest. I did that and 'old' and 'little' were my most used words so I wasn't so keen. So I went and made a document with my fav words and did my favorite ones more times so they would end up bigger. Then I copied it then went back to wordle and pasted it there. Then I played around with fonts and layout. It wouldn't just copy into my blog so I printed it then scanned it then put it in my blog under add picture. Deb are you truly impressed!!! Haven't got it quite right--can see part of the scanner equipment in the scan but by this point it was good enough. I want to hear some of your favorite words.
Holy cow Maggie, I AM impressed!! Thanks for the tip - I'll go to that site.
ReplyDeleteHello Maggie
ReplyDeletethat cave is stunning and so is your top picture. I have just been admiring the light's rays striping the snow...

Happy days

hi maggie, i love wordles. i shared one of my blog sometime ago.
ReplyDeletei just also wanted to say thanks for your kind words on my blog, particularly last week. im sorry it has taken me sometime to get back to you.
Beth I only removed your post because it had to do with your post and I published here in error. I'm new to blogging and didn't realize there would be a tell tale sign left that I had removed it.
ReplyDeleteRuth, hmmmmmmmm yes we can go inside and be there. Nice reminder.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this photo while scrolling through your lovely posts, I thought this was a bowl of chocolate icing. 600' x 30' of chocolate icing - holy cow! Could Willie Wonka be far behind?
ReplyDeleteI love all your favorite words; they all have so much depth.
Welcome dutchbaby. The canyon had that surreal feeling to it, a take your breath away moment.
ReplyDeleteWillie Wonka would have fit in nicely.
