Do you hear what I hear?

 Love’s
Ancient melodies
Play at the corners of my mind.

Faintly do I hear them
for
Fear
keeps me
in a padded cell.
I call out
“Love, do not forsake me”

FLABBERGASTED
I see
Love’s orchestra tuning up
all eyes on me
their
Maestro.

This picture was taken at Mesa Verde National Park in SW Colorado inside an adobe which is part of the cliff dwellings. The cliff dwellings were home to the Pueblo people for over 700 years, from AD 600 to AD 1300. This was one of my favorite places on our US tour. I highly recommend a visit here.

  1. Wonderful, evocative and symbolic photograph, Maggie. The ladder invites me to climb, and the spill of light is full of promise.

Your poem made me smile, and especially the revelation in the last few words.

    Love,Deb

  3. Deb- When I was writing that poem I really felt 'flabbergasted' when I was struck (once again) with the knowing that I am the maestro of love in my life. So the ending was a revelation. Don't you find we have to learn the same life lessons over and over and over? xo maggie

  4. Wanda-so I go and listen to Dan Fogelberg's song
...Leader of the Band... and it is beautiful.
So thank you for the gift of leading me to him. I haven't heard him for years. Not quite sure why this makes you think of him but glad it did.

  11. The combination of poem, music and photograph make me think of escaping somewhere, anywhere. But that's spring for me, too. My two favourite seasons are autumn and spring. One signifies closure, and the other beginning. Thanks for such a fab post, I enjoyed it a lot.

    Greetings from London.

  16. The photo is brilliant. And so is the connection that you and I are maestros of love! Inge and I were talking about something like this at dinner, that we are the authority in our lives. And what you're saying in your poem is that we are the authority of love, oh it's wonderful.

Love listening to Fogelberg, thank you. I feel uplifted.
